A Black Poets Tale release day!

IT'S OFFICIALLY RELEASE DAY!!

Growing up and finding myself was a struggle, especially dealing with other people's expectations and judgments based on the color of my skin. I honestly at one point, didn't believe it was okay to be who I was. Like something was wrong with me. Then, one day I woke up and realized I shouldn’t have to be one way or another just to feel worthy or accepted. My skin is a part of me, yes, but it’s not a rulebook or a limitation. It’s simply a vessel, but not one that's ever supposed to be used as a cage. Once I understood that, I started to see that being fully myself, unapologetically, honestly, and freely, wasn’t just okay. It was necessary. Letting go of the pressure to fit into a box to make others comfortable made space for me to grow into my best self. Not the one others tried to define, but the one I was always meant to be.

SUMMARY

A Black Poets Tale is an intimate poetry chapbook that traces the journey of a young African American woman who was adopted and raised by a white family. From growing up between worlds, navigating the weight of racism, and the sting of colorism, while also learning to reclaim her voice, her beauty, and her worth. Madelyn confronts the pain and power of her identity, peeling back the layers of societal expectations and stereotypes to reveal the quiet strength that blooms in self-acceptance. This chapbook is not just a testament to survival, it's a celebration of becoming.
